goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film and the Robert Bosch Stiftung have announced call for applications for Young Filmmakers forPeace.
Young filmmakers paired in bilateral two-person teams from Germany and Central and Eastern Europe will set off together on a journey with a central objectives to use the means of cinema to investigate exclusionary attitudes towards individuals of different social, religious, cultural, ethnic and sexual orientation/gender backgrounds or identities and to present portraits of individuals and projects that are working to promote solidarity, civil courage and resistance to discrimination.

Young Filmmakers for Peace is as concerned with the making of films under the conditions of violent conflicts as it is with the making of films about such conflicts. In addition, participants have the possibility to take part in individual events from goEast’s East-West Talent Lab, which runs parallel to the project, enabling them to make further contact with young filmmakers from Central and Eastern Europe and Germany and to extend their professional networks.

Eligibility Criteria

- Young Filmmakers for Peace addresses students and graduates of directing from Germany and Eastern Europe and the Arab World.
- Applicants must be aged between 18 and 35.
- Two-person directorial teams composed of either one up-and-coming filmmaker from Germany and another from Eastern Europe or two young filmmakers from two separate countries in Eastern Europe who wish to realise a project idea together are both eligible to apply.
- As English will serve as the common language for communication at Filmmakers for Peace.
